Musician, Composer, Philosopher/Naturalist and Author of Why Birds Sing
and Survival of the Beautiful
Rothenberg will talk about his latest book Survival of the Beautiful, present a musical performance, and show clips from the BBC film Why Birds Sing which is based on his book of the same name. Survival of the Beautiful is an investigation of why nature is beautiful and how art has influenced science. The author delves into the mysteries of why
we create art, and why animals (including humans) have an innate appreciation for beauty.
If you have the energy and appetite for more, there’s the opening of the group show Birds of a Feather at Varga Gallery at 6 pm and then round off the evening with the monthly opening reception at Arts Upstairs, Phoenicia 6 – 10 pm
