Art, golf converging in Woodstock

The Woodstock Golf Club is working with local arts organizations to help boost arts awareness and celebrate a major aspect of the town’s heritage.

The “Art of Golf” initiative unties the Golf Club with the Woodstock School of Art and Woodstock Artists Association and Museum with a series of shows and a golf tournament. That event, the Art Heritage Golf Tournament, is a fundraiser that will benefit artist organizations.

Here’s the schedule of the “Art of Golf” initiative:

May 4, featured artists: Instructors from the Woodstock School of Art. Opening reception to be held from 6-8 p.m. The show will continue through May 31.

June 15, featured artists: Woodstock Artists’ Association & Museum. Opening reception to be held from 5-7 p.m. The show will continue through July 7.

July 27, featured artists: Woodstock Open Show. Opening reception to be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. The show will continue through August 16.

Aug. 24, featured artists: The Woodstock Golf Club Collection featuring Anton Otto Fischer. Opening reception to be held from 5-7 p.m. The show will continue through Sept. 20.

Aug. 29: The Inaugural Art Heritage Golf Tournament benefiting the Woodstock School of Art and the Woodstock Artists Association and Museum. Shotgun start at 1 p.m.; auction to follow at 6:30 p.m.

Drop off work at the WGC – Thursday, June 13, 11 am to 3 pm

Pick up work at the WGC – to be announced by the Golf Club

Size limitations:Maximum sizes must include frames.
Work must be framed and wired for installation. Imagery must be appropriate for a family/restaurant setting. All wall hung media is welcome. Works not meeting these guidelines cannot be accepted.
Sales / Insurance: 60% of sales go to the artist and the balance will benefit the WAAM and the Woodstock School of Art. Artists must sign an insurance waiver from the WGC.

This show is one in a series of summer shows organized by the WGC in celebration of their long artistic history. The inaugural “Art Heritage Golf Tournament” will be held on August 29, 2013. A show featuring Instructors of the Woodstock School of Art will be held May 4 – May 31. Other shows will be announced. All proceeds from the shows and the tournament will benefit the WAAM and the Woodstock School of Art. The WAAM is grateful for the WGC’s generous support of artists, www.woodstockgolf.com.
