Eros in a Snow Globe

Eros in a snow globe – the perfect Christmas decoration for London

He was placed in a bird cage during the coronation and shielded by sandbags in the war. Now Eros has been turned into the world’s biggest snow globe, and it’s a brilliant festive sight.

“Protecting Eros is the annual festive challenge,” says Nick Thompson at Westminster City Council. “You wouldn’t believe it, but he always becomes a target for vandals at this time of year. A couple of years ago someone climbed up it and snapped off the bow, which cost us £6,000 to repair.”

“There’s something magical about snow globes; just shaking it, then watching the snow gently fall can be mesmerising. So, we were delighted to find out that the worlds largest snow globe has been constructed in central London.

The Eros statue in Piccadilly Circus has been transformed into a 21 tonne globe, with eight snow-blowing machines, and a 30ft PVC cover. The base has been made into eight LED screens for Wildstone, a leading outdoor advertiser.”
