The Gallery at R&F is pleased to present Susan Spencer Crowe’s solo exhibition, Encaustic/Form II. With some earlier work and new work, this sculpture exhibit expands on her March 2015 award-winning solo show, Encaustic/Form I, at the Woodstock Artists Association & Museum, Woodstock, NY. Encaustic/Form II follows Ms. Crowe’s sculptural explorations from 2012-2015. Beginning with pristine geometry and simple, glowing color, her work develops increasingly complex geometric form, and a riot of color and pattern. Ms. Crowe merges a crystalline, sophisticated urban sensibility with rich light, textures and form inspired by the Mid-Hudson Valley. The exhibition is on view from May 2nd through July 24th with an opening on Saturday, May 2nd from 5:00-7:00pm.
Ms. Crowe spent 40 years in New York City studying art and working for a number of the city’s leading art institutions before moving to the Mid-Hudson Valley. She earned an MFA from Vermont College of Norwich University and a BFA with honors from Pratt Institute. Ms. Crowe’s work has earned her many solo and group shows and won her many awards including two from the NY Foundation for the Arts. Her work is included in the Museum of Modern Art’s collection. Ms. Crowe has a stellar reputation as an artist, grant writer, college teacher, and civic activist for the visual arts.
